Former high school band director indicted
HOPKINSVILLE, KY — A former Kentucky high school band director was arrested in early June for having sex with a student.
Jordan Peveler was accused of meeting with a student at his home, giving her marijuana, and engaging in a sex act with her once she was under the influence.
The Kentucky New Era reports Peveler was indicted on June 21 on one count of unlawful transaction with a minor, three counts of third degree sodomy and four counts of third degree rape.
Peveler was in a position of authority over the student with whom he allegedly had sex on school grounds, the indictment says. He also reportedly had sex with a minor at his home. The report says the indictment does not specify if the rape counts have the same or multiple victims.
The ex-band director’s wife, former assistant commonwealth’s attorney, has also been accused of witness tampering. She resigned from her position last week.
Hannah Peveler was indicted on June 21 on three counts of tampering with a witness. The indictment alleges she was accused of attempting to persuade a witness to “avoid testifying.”
Jordan Peveler is scheduled to be arraigned July 3 in Christian Circuit Court. Court records show he posted $10,000 bond on June 6.
