Sheriff: Paducah man charged with murder in deadly shooting of ex-wife
PADUCAH — A Paducah woman has died after she was found suffering from a gunshot wound Wednesday evening, and the McCracken County Sheriff’s Department says her ex-husband has been charged with her murder.
Around 5:03 p.m. Wednesday, deputies responded to a report that a woman had been shot in a home on Noble Road, the sheriff’s department says in a news release. When deputies arrived, they found 60-year-old Judy Stalcup suffering from a gunshot wound to the head. She was taken to an area hospital, but the sheriff’s office says she died from her injuries around 5:53 p.m.
The sheriff’s office says when detectives interviewed Judy Stalcup’s ex-husband, Anthony Stalcup, he gave them multiple versions of events, but admitted that he shot her. The sheriff’s office says the 64-year-old man was arrested based on that interview, as well as evidence at the scene and information provided by witnesses. The news release says the sheriff’s office will not release any further information on the case yet, because the investigation is ongoing.
Anthony Stalcup was arrested on charges of murder and possession of a handgun by a felon and jailed in the McCracken County Jail.
An arraignment is scheduled for Thursday morning.
