Deputies say the man from a serious crash last month is a wanted felon

McCRACKEN COUNTY, KY — McCracken County Deputies have released the name of the man who was seriously injured in a crash in McCracken County last month.

Deputies say they worked with agencies in Tennessee and the Kentucky State Police since the accident to identify the driver as 33-year-old Mark Wayne Basham.

On June 26, the 6200 block of Old Mayfield Road between Clarkline Road and Houser Road was closed for four hours because of this accident. Local 6’s Leah Shields said in a Facebook post a person was taken away in an ambulance and a truck was in the ditch.

On July 13, Deputies say the man, now known as Basham, drove the truck across the road and into a ditch, hitting a utility pole and a tree head on. They say he was thrown out of the truck during the crash. He taken to a local hospital then flown out of state for serious injuries.

Deputies say the truck from the accident was stolen from McBride Mack Truck Sales in Paducah.

Officers have confirmed Basham was an inmate in the Graves County jail who gave other inmates methamphetamine that caused two overdoses and Rodney Evans’ death.

On July 6, KSP said Basham was wanted for manslaughter after he missed his court appearance on July 1.

Deputies tell us Basham is still in the hospital in critical condition.
