PADUCAH — A Graves County, Kentucky, man was arrested Friday morning after police say he lied to Paducah police, falsely claiming he’d been robbed.
The man, 33-year-old Mark Swanson of Boaz, told officers that a man he knows robbed him at knife point last week, stealing $250 from him. The Paducah Police Department says detectives found multiple inconsistencies when they investigated Swanson’s story.
Swanson was interviewed again Friday morning, and police say he admitted that he gave the man $250 for marijuana, but he later discovered the marijuana he thought he bought was actually oregano.
Police say Swanson told them he made up the robbery story to get the other man in trouble.
Swanson was arrested on a charge of falsely reporting an incident and jailed in the McCracken County Jail.
