On Friday, Marion, Illinois, hosted a live stream event called the Marion United Benefit with a goal to raise $100,000. On Saturday, they posted on Facebook saying that they surpassed their goal.

The USDA Forest Service says the Garden of the Gods Recreation Area and Bell Smith Springs Trailhead are temporarily closed due to COVID-19.

Dr. Ngoze Ezike, the state’s public health director, said a man at Stateville Correctional Center in Joliet had died from the respiratory illness. Twelve more inmates with COVID-19 have been hospitalized, several requiring ventilators, and 77 others showing symptoms have been isolated, as have 11 staff members.
