MCCRACKEN COUNTY, KY — The man accused of abusing Hero the dog was arraigned in McCracken County Court on Thursday.

Hero was found earlier this year on the side of the road with his mouth tapped shut and his tail broken.

Deputies say Jayce Bryant admitted to taping the dog’s mouth shut. Bryant claims that the puppy bit him.

Bryant is charged with torturing a dog with serious physical injuries. He has pleaded not guilty to that charge and will be back in court next month.

While in court on Thursday, the judge signed an order releasing Hero into the custody of the McCracken County Humane Society.

Hero then meet his new owner, our very own Local 6 News Director Perry Boxx.

We’ll continue to bring you updates on Hero.
