FRANKFORT, KY — Kentucky lawmakers will be discussing Senate Bill 1 in Frankfort on Wednesday. The bill aims to keep your kids safe while they’re at school.

Among the biggest supporters of the bill are the parents of Bailey Holt and Preston Cope. Both teens died in the shooting at Marshall County High School last year.

Their parents met with lawmakers last month, urging them to support the bill.

If passed, the measure would provide fully-trained officers and mental health professionals in Kentucky schools.

It also established a statewide school safety marshal to make sure everyone is following the rules.

But before it can be voted on, it has to be assigned to the education committee for approval.
