CALLOWAY COUNTY, KY — A Calloway County, Kentucky, 1-year-old has died at a Nashville, Tennessee, hospital after the child was found in a pond, the sheriff’s office says.
A mother called 911 in Calloway County at 5:08 p.m. Wednesday, telling dispatchers she found her 1-year-old child in a pond near her home, a news release from the Calloway County Sheriff’s Office says. The child was not breathing.
Dispatchers gave the mother CPR instructions over the phone, and CPR was continued by the first deputy who arrived at the scene until emergency medical responders arrived. The 1-year-old was taken by ambulance to Murray-Calloway County Hospital, and later flown to Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville.
The news release says the sheriff’s office was notified Thursday that the child has died.
The sheriff’s office says it’s investigation into the child’s death is ongoing.
