PADUCAH, KY — The McCracken County Mustangs advanced to the KHSAA State Baseball Quarterfinals win a 14-1 win over Hopkinsville at semi-state round of the state tournament in Bowling Green on Saturday.
The Mustangs wasted no time in getting on the board first with two runs in the top of the first inning. They would then add six more runs in the second inning to hold an 8-0 lead over the Tigers.
With the win, McCracken County will play in the state quarterfinals for the fourth straight year.
Just down the road at the WKU Softball Complex the Marshall County Lady Marshals saw their season come to an end with a 4-2 loss to Madisonville.
The Lady Marshals held a 2-0 lead in the 6th inning before the Lady Maroons scored four runs to take a 4-2 lead.
Marshall County finishes the season with a record of 27-14 and their second straight 1st Region Championship.
